Poulton were comprehensively outgraded by Lytham on boards 2 and 3 where Steve Gardner and Martin Johnson lost to Doug Williams and Phil Copeland.
Poulton's lower boards rallied to the rescue by taking four points out of five to give Poulton the match. George Ellison ensure the win by halving the points in his game against John Cooper.
Special mention should be made of Ken Gorman and Dave Hartley who are having an impressive season and also Abigail Pritchard who beat the higher graded Ricky Lord.

Preston 2 v Preston 1 2-3
Preston 1 are still in the title chase behind Blackpool after winning their match against Preston 2, the present champions. The crunch match is on 30 January when Preston 1 meet Blackpool 1.
Preston 1 v Lytham Ex 1 3-2
Despite Lytham being without their top player, John Cooper, they put up a spirited resistance and it ended in another narrow victory for Preston 1. The result could easily have gone the other way as Doug Williams had the possibility of a win in the end game with Brett Lund.

Lytham Ex 5 v Blackpool 2 1-3
Lytham Ex 5 are still without a point at the halfway stage of the season. Blackpool's Dennis Davies is still unbeaten with three wins and two draws.
Poulton 3 v Preston 3 1-3
Preston's steam roller continues, six wins in six outings. Kenny Quinn lost his first game after winning the previous 5. Dave Skidmore has now won all his three games this season.
