SILVER QUEEN – 2007

The new season started as always with the competition for the "Evening Gazette" Silver Queen.  This is a quickplay six-round event - each player has ten minutes to make his/her moves.

Once again, Brett Lund (former Lancashire Champion and Preston's top board) came out on top with a score of five and a half points out of six - his third successive win and tenth since 1988!

Blackpool's Mike Parker only lost one game and that was to the Champion - he finished in second place.  Neil Coward (Blackpool) finished in third spot while Phil Raynor and John Cooper (both of Lytham) finished with the same number of points as Neil (who was awarded third on the basis of Sum of Opponent's Scores).

Sympathy must go to Lynne Morrison (Lytham) who excelled to beat Lytham's Captain and top board in the first round but went on to score only one further point.
