Morecambe v Preston 1 3½ - 1½
This is Morecambe's first season in the top flight for a number of seasons following on from their excellent performance in Div B last season. There squad has been further strengthened by the inclusion of Glen Charleshouse and Bob Newton.
On top board, Preston's Brett Lund suffered a rare defeat at the hands of Glen Charleshouse. On Board 2, Bob Newton lost to the in-form Malcolm Peacock.

Preston 3 v Blackpool 2 1½ - 2½
On top board, the higher graded Michael Parker was successful against Paul O'Mara. On Board 2, Abigail Pritchard is facing sterner opposition than last season and lost to Geoff Pennington.
Div C
Bispham v Lytham Ex 3 2 - 2
This was a fine team effort by Bispham to hold a higher graded Lytham side to a draw - unusually, all of the games were drawn.
