Clubs

There are currently 6 clubs in the League:  Bispham, Blackpool, Lytham, Morecambe, Poulton and Preston.

Bispham Chess Club,  Bispham Community Centre, Bispham Road, Blackpool, FY2 0HH.  Secretary:  Blaine McGrady, 37 Hodgson Avenue, Freckleton, PR4 1SQ.  Tel:  (01772) 634483.  Email:  bisphamchess@btinternet.com.  The club night is Tuesday.  Directions are as follows:  proceed to Bispham roundabout and, at the junction of Devonshire Road and Bispham Road, the Community Centre is next door to the library.

Blackpool Chess Club, Blackpool Cricket Club, Stanley Park, Blackpool.  Secretary:  Jon Wright, Tel:  (01253) 397715.  The club night is Monday.

Lytham Ex Chess Club, Lytham Ex-Servicemen's and Social Club, Chapel St., off Westby St., Lytham.  Secretary:  Colin Liddle, 22 Cartmell Road, St. Annes, Lancs.  Tel:  (01253) 726409.  The club night is Thursday.  Directions are as follows:  Travel into Lytham from  St Annes along Church St. and turn left at The County public house into Hastings Place.  Turn right along Upper Westby Street and right again into Chapel Street where the club may be found.

Morecambe Chess Club, Morecambe Cricket Club, Woodhill Lane, Morecambe.  Secretary:  Norman Blade, 23 Mardale Avenue, Morecambe, LA3 5XS.  Tel:  (01524) 421125.  Travel into Morecambe on the A589 and go straight on at the roundabout where it intersects the A683.  At the next roundabout (known as the Shrimp Roundabout) take a left turn into Westgate.  Travel for about 1.5 miles along Westgate and after a bridge over a railway turn right into Buckingham Road.  Take the 4th right into Kenwood Avenue.  Turn right again into Woodhill Lane and you will see Morecambe Cricket Club in this cul-de-sac.

Poulton Chess Club, Sevenoaks Drive Day Centre, Hobart Place, Cleveleys.  Secretary:  Ken Gorman, 16 Carleton Gardens.  Tel:  899742.   The club night is Tuesday.  Directions are as follows:  From Preston:  By-pass Poulton via Mains Lane/Amounderness Way (Fleetwood direction).  At 2nd roundabout, continue on Amounderness Way.  Take 1st left (Anchorsholme Lane).  At mini-roundabout, turn left into Sevenoaks Drive.  Take 5th (and last) left (Melbourne Ave.).  Hobart Place is first left.

From Blackpool:  Follow Devonshire Road to Norbreck.  Turn right (at lights) into Warren Drive.  Sevenoaks Drive is next left after North Drive.  Melbourne Ave. is first right.

Preston Chess Club, The Unicorn, North Road, Preston.  Secretary:  Malcolm Peacock, 3 New Links Avenue, Ingol, Preston.  Tel:  (01772) 740882.  The club night is Wenesday.  Directions are as follows:  The venue lies approximately 2.3 miles south of the junction between the M55 and the A6.  From M55 travel south towards Preston on the A6.  After 2 miles the English Martyrs' church is on the left, Moor Park public house is on the right.  50 yards further on is the Unicorn pub and the best place to park is the B&Q car park nearby.
